The criminal case against the journalist Natallya Radzina is terminated

The criminal prosecution of the editor of charter97.org website on the case of mass riots in Minsk on December 19 is terminated.

In the article "Total sale-out of political prisoners," which appeared on the site at the night of August 26, the journalist reported that the document dated by August 23 was brought to her parents in Kobrin from the Investigative Division of the preliminary investigation of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk City Executive Committee, writes BelaPAN.

Radzina treated this document skeptically. The termination of the criminal case under Article 293 (mass riots) of the Criminal Code does not mean the absence of a criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (participation in group actions violating public order). "As it is known, the criminal case for "mass riots" has been also closed against Zmitser Bandarenka, Iryna Khalip, Anastasiya Palazhanka, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Andrei Dzmitryeu, Alyaksandr Fyaduta, Vital Rymasheuski, Syarhei Vaznyak, Paval Sevyarynets, Syarhei Martsaleu, but a new one was initiated later", says the site editor.

From December 20 to January 28, Radzina was in the KGB jail, from which she was released on bail. Until March 30 she lived with her parents in Kobrin and continued to work as a journalist. After the call to the KGB in Minsk she left Belarus on March 31 and was in Moscow on April 1. There she was able to get the documents through the Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Russia. On July 28 she flew from the Russian capital to Amsterdam, as soon as Netherlands became the first country supported her as a refugee through the UN. A week later moved to Lithuania, where she asked for political asylum. The office of charter97.org website is located in Vilnius.
