As of 13 May, 25,825 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Belarus, the Healthcare Ministry Telegram channel reports.
That is a daily increase is 952 cases. For over a week now, the number of infected people has increased by more than 900 people per day. 7,711 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, that is 373 people in the 24 hours.
This is a record number this week. On 12 May, 443 people recovered and were discharged, on 11 May – 125 people. A total of 296,380 coronavirus tests were carried out in the country. 146 coronavirus patients have died since the outbreak.
Last week, Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik said that the incidence of COVID-19 in some areas of Minsk and Vitebsk regions is decreasing. Most patients in Belarus have a mild form of disease, but 15–20% have pneumonia complications.
Chinese express tests for COVID-19 antibodies have already arrived at the country’s medical institutions.The Healthcare Ministry earlier reported its plans to conduct centralized studies in certain regions of the country to determine the immune layer to COVID-19.
Irina Glinskaya, the deputy chief physician of Belarus’ National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, suggested that “in about a month, perhaps even by the end of this month, we will achieve a steady reduction in the incidence rate.”
In one of the latest forecasts, the peak incidence of coronavirus is expected on the twentieth of May, after which the epidemic will likely decline.
