Presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov has been sent from prison Nr4 in Mahilou in unknown direction.
The information was received from an officer on duty. He told Radio Svaboda on the phone that there was no such prisoner in the colony. The policeman did not say where Andrei Sannikov was taken to.
Prison chief Alyaksandr Lamoza told journalists on September 27 that Sannikov may be transferred by this weekend. The prison chief said that according to his transmittal letter, he should be sent to Babruisk.
Andrei Sannikov was reported to be in Mahilou prison Nr4 on September 26. The imprisoned politician had two meetings with his lawyer in Mahilou prison, where he had been transferred from a penal colony in Navapolatsk.
Taking into account repeated threats to his life and health, Andrei Sannikov refused from the transfer until receiving solid guarantees of security and eliminating the threat to his life and health that was artificially created by the Corrections Department and the administration of detention facility Nr2 in Vitsebsk and Mahilou prison Nr4.
We remind that Andrei Sannikov’s wife, Iryna Khalip, said at a press conference in Minsk yesterday that the presidential candidate’s transfer from the Navapolatsk penal colony to the colony in Babruisk already lasted more than a week. The political prisoner is in prison in Mahilou now. Andrei Sannikov is under pressure receiving threats to kill him either during the transit or in the Babbruisk colony. The pressure is obviously applied to make the political prisoner sign a pardon petition.
On May 13, presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov was sentenced to five years in a medium security penal colony.
