The streets renaming commission of Minsk City Executive Committee has decided that the subway station "Lenin Square" will be called "Independence Square".
"Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus" has informed about it.
Let us remind you that the administration of the underground suddenly decided to return the station its Soviet name a few years ago. The administration claimed that they did not receive any money needed for the rename. However, journalists have found out that the money was allocated by the government but disappeared somewhere.
Besides subway stations, a number of streets will also receive new names. Revolution Street will get its old name – Koidanauskaya. The nameless park near a car terminal "Eastern" will receive a new name – Omar Khayyám Park.
