Belarus readies amnesty bill 2024
The amnesty 2024 will differ from the previous ones, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Olga Chupris said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 13 March, BelTA has learned.

"As of today, the bill on amnesty has been drawn up and coordinated with all stakeholders. It is currently being finalized. Then the bill will be submitted to the Parliament in accordance with the established procedure," Olga Chupris said.

According to her, the amnesty in 2024 will be different from the previous ones. "It will widely apply to minors or those persons who committed crimes as minors. It will also apply to minors who have committed drug trafficking crimes, including those with aggravating circumstances. The amnesty will also be widely extended to women with minor children," Olga Chupris said.

"The president asked us to think about job placement. We have devised a special mechanism to help these people find a job after they are released from prison or get the custodial sentence replaced with semi-custodial one," Olga Chupris added.
