People convicted on political grounds will not fall under the amnesty of 2024, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakou.
"We proposed the following: not to apply amnesty to the extremists and terrorists who were convicted and brought to criminal responsibility. Our proposal was supported. Because everyone understands what these people have done," BelTA quoted the Interior Ministry chief as saying.
He added that these people had the opportunity to appeal to Lukashenka for a pardon. Some of these petitions have been granted.
The previous amnesty that took place in 2022 did not include political prisoners.
