Agents from the Interior Ministry's Organized Crime and Corruption Directorate on 27 December detained in Minsk two senior executives of the country's potash giant Belaruskali on suspicion of a large-scale bribery.
According to the Interior Ministry's Press Office, Belaruskali’s deputy director general in charge of construction and the head of the investment and construction support department were arrested. The former was reportedly caught red-handed when accepting a bribe of $10 000 from a private company CEO. The Belaruskali top manager was expected to handle matters for the private company's benefit.
Criminal cases were opened against the detained executives on the large-scale bribery charges. The bribe-giver was also arrested.
