Two activists of the “European Belarus” Maxim Vinyarski and Leanid Kulakou were sentenced on Tuesday in Minsk.
Winiarski was accused of participating in an unauthorized protest of the BSU students on 2 December.
Maxim Vinyarski, civil activist:
“The offense was the slogan “Long live Belarus”. There was nothing else they could come up with. But I have made this offense more than once. If they want to try me for crying out “Long live Belarus” without specifying where it was said to whom and when – I may be tried for it now and until the end of my life.”
During the trial the activist refused to rise before the judge of the Moscow district court of Minsk Tatsiana Matyl. As a result, another protocol was filed – for contempt of court. By the way, Tatsiana Matyl has repeatedly judged politically motivated cases of administrative offenses and sentenced activists to fines and time in prison. She has once sentenced one of the participants of the “Students’ March’ Pavel Syarhei to a fine of 25 basic units.
As a result, Maxim Vinyarski was fined twice – 50 basic units for participating in the Students’ March and 20 – for “insulting the judge.”
One more activist of “European Belarus”, Leanid Kulakou, was accused of organizing an unauthorized rally against the abolition of the death penalty, which took place on December 10 and was fined 30 basic units.
