New Estonian ambassador takes up his duties

Mait Martinson, Estonia’s new ambassador to Belarus, has taken up his duties, the embassy told BelaPAN.

Mr. Martinson arrived in Minsk on August 8. He succeeded Jaak Lensment, who had served in Belarus since September 2010.

Mr. Martinson, 45, graduated from the economics faculty of Moscow State University in 1993 and joined the Estonian foreign ministry later that year.

He served as Estonia`s ambassador to China between 2002 and 2007 and left the position of ambassador to Ireland earlier this year.
