The Estonian government has appointed Mait Martinson as ambassador to Belarus, the press office of the Baltic country`s foreign ministry told BelaPAN. The press office did not say when the new ambassador would arrive in Belarus. Mr. Martinson succeeds Jaak Lensment, who is to leave Belarus after a four-year stint. Mr. Martinson, 45, graduated from the economics faculty of Moscow State University in 1993 and joined the Estonian foreign ministry later that year. He served as Estonia`s ambassador to China between 2002 and 2007 and left the position of ambassador to Ireland earlier this year.
