Venezuela still has the interest in privatization of Belarusian oil refineries

Venezuela still has the interest to participate in privatization of Belarusian enterprises of oil refining, Ambassador of Venezuela to Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez said.

"Last year, at a press conference I was asked about whether Venezuela has the interest to participate in privatization of Belarusian enterprises. And today I can say, this interest remains", the diplomat said on Monday at a press conference in Minsk, according to Interfax-Zapad news agency.

He noted, Venezuela also is still ready to deliver oil to Belarus, "in the amounts and on such conditions which Belarus needs".

"We are not talking that the project failed", said the ambassador, when asked about how he sees the actual termination of Venezuelan oil supplies to Belarusian refineries in 2012.

"Belarus had an emergency situation that caused the need for such imports, and Venezuela has agreed to this request, has agreed to supply oil in the quantities needed", said A.D.Nunez.

The diplomat also said that Venezuela was not inclined to consider the cooperation with Belarus in the oil industry as the attempt of Minsk to compete with Russia in this industry.
