Almost 500 foreign specialists have been employed by the High Tech Park Belarus since late March 2018 when Belarus president's Decree No 8 on the development of the digital economy came into force, reports Interior Ministry.
The majority of foreigners now with the IT job in Minsk came from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The HTP residents are allowed to hire foreign workers without special permits as is the case in the other industries, under the 28 March 2018 president's edict.
A HTP resident is only expected to notify within three working days a district citizenship and migration office since the date of signing a work contract. The simplified procedures also imply that foreigners with a job at HTP get a temporary residence permit for the period of the work contract, no red tape involved.
In general across all the sectors, nearly 16 000 foreign citizens came to work in Belarus in 2018.
