Andrey Haydukou who is charged with treason is to be moved from the Minsk KGB detention facility to Vitsebsk, Yauhen Kanstantsinau, leader of the Union of Young Intellectuals, said.
According to him, the defence lawyer had a meeting with Haydukou on November 28. "They were going to transfer Haydukou to Vitsebsk, investigator Aleh Barysevich told her. Probably, it will do him good. They may well be preparing for reducing the charge,"Kanstantsinau believes.
There is no unit for keeping suspects in the Vitsebsk KGB, Yauhen Kanstantsinau stressed. In his opinion, this can be indicative of the initial charge’s changing.
Yauhen Kanstantsinau does not know which detention facility Haydukou will be moved to. The defence lawyer has not filed a request for change of measure of restraint yet, he said. Haydukou’s family and friends have still not received letters he sent from Minsk, the leader of the Union of Young Intellectuals pointed out.
The KGB does not comment on Haydukou’s transfer and alleged charge reduction.
