A military plane crashed in the Navahrudak district killing the pilot. BelTA news agency received the information from the Ministry of Defence of Belarus.
A Su-26 plane belonging to the 116th attack air base crashed today near the air range during a planned flight. "The flight was performed to practice low-altitude and nap-to-the-ground flying and air navigation techniques", the Ministry of Defence says.
The plane began to lose control at an altitude of 500 metres at 15:35 pm. The flight supervisor ordered the pilot to eject. The pilot drove the plane aside from the village of Naviny in the Navahrudak District. The aircraft fell to the ground 2 kilometres from the village. The class 1 pilot Lieutenant Colonel Hrydnyou Mikalai died.
A commission of the Ministry of Justice was created to investigate the accident.
