Aleh Manayeu was arrested by special purpose troops near Victory Square in Minsk.
Radio Svaboda learnt this from Alyaksandr Sasnou, an expert at the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS).
Manayeu was leaving a metro station.
Manayeu managed to say he was searched for weapon and drugs. After that he was taken in an unknown direction.
Aleh Manayeu is the head Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS), which is registered in Lithuania.
The IISEPS has recently published results of its September poll, according to which only 24.5% of respondents trust Alyaksandr Lukashenka and 62.3% do not trust the head of state.
