Belarus has earned $16 million by exporting medical services this year, First Deputy Health Minister Valery Khadzhayew said on Tuesday during the opening ceremony for an international medical equipment exhibition in Minsk.

Belarus works actively to increase the export of medical services, especially high-tech services, such as the transplantation of organs and tissues, heart surgery, neurosurgery, trauma surgery and orthopedic and cancer treatment, Mr. Khadzhayew said.

There is already a waiting list of foreigners who would like to undergo high-tech surgical procedures in Belarus, he said.

Although the government's target of increasing the export of medical services five times between 2011 and 2015 is ambitious, Belarus will meet it because its hospitals have all the necessary equipment, Mr. Khadzhayew said.
