For The First Time In Belarus! Robot Performs Successful Surgery
Belarusians surgeons used a robot to perform a gallbladder removal surgery, the Ministry of Health reports via its official Facebook page.

For the first time in Belarus!

The first *robot-assisted operation was carried out with the help of the TransEnterix robotic complex Senhance Surgery.

The operation was performed at the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Presidential Affairs Office on Tuesday, February 6.




Every year about 150,000 foreigners come to Belarus for medical services, according to information provided by First Deputy Health Minister Dmitry Pinevich last year.

Their flow is rather stable, which indicates the quality of medical care in the country, the official noted.

*Robotically-assisted surgery was developed to overcome the limitations of pre-existing minimally-invasive surgical procedures and to enhance the capabilities of surgeons performing open surgery.

It has been criticized for its expense, by one estimate costing $1,500 to $2000 more per patient.
