The Court of the October district of Grodna sentenced one of the chiefs of the PLC "Grodna House Building" in a criminal case.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, "the law enforcement agencies noticed the citizen N. in summer 2009, when the information was received that he had got illegal remuneration from representatives of business structures for a favourable resolution of issues related to the purchase of construction materials and equipment".
In November 2009 he was arrested after receiving another bribe of around 8,000 euros. A criminal case was opened against him on Article 430 Part 1 of the Criminal Code (bribery). The investigation proved yet another episode of receiving the bribe of over 5,000 euros from the head of one of the commercial organisations.
"On the initiative of the prosecutor's office of the Grodna region, the last sitting of the court at which the verdict was announced took place on the premises of "Grodna House Building" and was attended by heads and workers of this construction company and by media representatives", the supervisory agency reported.
In his last plea the accused pleaded guilty of illegally obtaining money. The court sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
