BISR seeks cooperation with China’s think tanks
The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) expects to develop practical cooperation with China’s think tanks, Oleg Makarov, Director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research, said as he met with Chen Zhou, Deputy Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on 20 April, BelTA has learned.

Oleg Makarov informed the members of the Chinese delegation about the institute's activities, noting that the BISR maintains close relations with similar think tanks under the Communist Party of China and the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

Now, according to Oleg Makarov, it is important to take two strategic steps: to establish interaction within the framework of regional cooperation and to make cooperation more practical in order to solve state-important problems.

"In terms of our relations with think tanks, the stage of getting to know each other, building trust has already ended. Now we need to move on to practical tasks that are important for the states. I believe this will be useful and important for cooperation between the two states," Oleg Makarov said.

The promising areas of cooperation include technology transfer, state planning and forecasting, reforms in the public sector of the economy, improving the efficiency of enterprises, the development of public-private partnerships, and party building.
