Sergeyenko: Belarus will do its best to ensure continuity of political contacts with China
Belarus will do its best to ensure the continuity of political contacts with China, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Chen Zhou in Minsk on 22 April, BelTA has learned.

"I am happy to welcome you and the members of the CPC Central Committee delegation to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Your visit is a vivid confirmation of the successfully developing cooperation between the state bodies of Belarus and China," Igor Sergeyenko said.

The chairman of the House of Representatives noted that Belarus and China have established an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. "It is based on mutual respect, political trust, strong friendship between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, and the peoples of the two states," he stressed.

The continuity of cooperation between Belarus and China is based on the memorandum of cooperation between the Belarus President Administration and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the agreement on cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, Igor Sergeyenko added.

"We will continue to do everything to ensure the continuity of our political contacts. Last year, parliamentary leaders agreed to establish a High-Level Committee on Legislative Cooperation. We will soon set up the Belarusian part of the committee and begin active work on the agenda. Our goal, without duplicating the activities of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation, is to facilitate the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level," Igor Sergeyenko stated.
