COVID-19 In Belarus: 67,251 Infected, Plus 119 In Past 24 Hours

As of 27 July, 67,251 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Belarus. The number of new infections per day is 119, the Healthcare Ministry reports.

60,492 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals (+67 patients in the 24 hours); 538 coronavirus patients have died (+6 in the 24 hours) since the outbreak. That is there are 6,221 COVID-19 infected people in the country at the moment.



Belarus has conducted 1,257,399 tests since the outbreak (+6,040 in the 24 hours). The percentage of positive test results is about 2. Earlier Lithuanian professor Saulius Čaplinskas stated that the country is starting to cope with the epidemic, when the percentage of positive test results is 3% per day or less.

Citing the Healthcare Ministry, Head of the CEC Lidia Yermoshina said that about 41,000 Belarusians are contacts of the first level, or are infected with COVID-19 and are under quarantine – not taking into account those who are currently in hospitals.

The Healthcare Ministry doesn’t exclude the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 but hopes that it won’t be so large-scale. According to experts, the second wave in Belarus may begin in September.



Healthcare Minsiter Vladimir Karanik said that there has been a steady positive trend in Belarus recently. According to President Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus spent nearly half a billion rubles to counter the coronavirus outbreak.
