TIME Publishes Portrait By Minsk Artist For Person Of The Year Issue

American weekly news magazine TIME published a portrait of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern created by Minsk artist for their Person of the Year issue.
In December, the TIME art director contacted Victoria Savenkova with a proposal to paint a portrait of New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for “Portraits of Influence” article.
Although the realistic artist says she doesn’t know by what criteria she was chosen but was very happy with the “person” she was given. “It is an honour for me to be selected for this work.
I am very happy for the opportunity to paint a portrait of such an interesting person and to be published in TIME!✨ Such a wonderful end of the year!” she wrote on her Facebook page.

To complete her work, the artist was given four and a half days. Two days later, representatives of the magazine contacted Victoria, and she showed her illustration in progress.
“They sent some photos for me to make a sketch. I was free to choose style, composition and colour – this is especially important for every artist.
I am used to working with large formats, so I immediately decided to paint a big portrait.” The artist sent the final version of the portrait as a file – the original copy remained with her.
Artists, photographers and other creative people from Belarus are conquering the world. Recall that the works of Yuliya Patotskaya were exhibited at a prestigious exhibition at the Louvre in Paris.
Last year a fashion photo by Minsk student hit the pages of the Italian Vogue, another photo project about an old lady whose story is told through her outfits got featured by the Guardian.
