Brest region governor Kanstantsin Sumar took the painting to Minsk to give it to the President as a gift.
"The portrait of Lukashenka wearing a Francisc Skaryna outfit. Our governor took this painting to Minsk yesterday, in order to give it to Alyaksandr Lukashenka as a present... It's an interesting painting which raises a question - why in such image? But the name says for itself - in a Francisc Skaryna outfit," director of the Brest Art Museum Vasil Hulyaeu tells Euroradio.
They tell in the museum that the opening of Nikas Safronov's exhibition raised great interest among the political elite of Brest. Partaking in the event were "all branches of power... great beau monde." Unfortunately, the unusual portrait of the Belarusian state leader is no longer available.
The artist has confessed in Brest that he longed for painting a portrait of the Belarusian state leader "in a classical style...live." He allegedly has a corresponding agreement with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
"He is either shy or modest. He is also very busy: seeding campaigns or something else, all the time. He didn't pose to me specially, I just worked with him a little,"kp.by quotes as Nikas Safronov says.
