Visa-Free Travelers To Belarus Won’t Have To Show Health Insurance On Border

Starting 1 September 2019, border officials in Belarus won’t check whether foreigner citizens entering the country have health insurance.
The novelty doesn’t change the fact that a foreigner must have a compulsory health insurance contract valid on the territory of Belarus.
The Border Committee confirmed the information and stressed that the old rules are in force at the moment.
New regulations will be applied to visa-exempt foreign citizens, while those who come to the country with a Belarusian visa will still have to show insurance at the border.
Recall that starting 10 June, foreigners can buy the insurance online at Belgosstrakh website. Mind that travelers still need to have it in printed form.
In order to do that, one has to register at the insurer’s website, fill in their personal data, passport details and home address. The insurance contract will be confirmed by a notification with a digital signature of the insurer.
The price of Belarus health insurance purchased online is the same as the one purchased at the insurer’s office. Among other important changes, the list of organizations that can act as insurance agents was extended.
In addition to banks and the national postal service Belposhta, travel agencies, visa centers, Belarusian Railway, Belavia, and car dealers were included.
Also, an obligatory medical insurance agreement can be concluded by a foreigner at any border entry point (at the international airports or border checkpoints).
Foreigners who have been granted refugee status, subsidiary protection or asylum in Belarus will not be subject to insurance, according to new rules.
