Belarus to waive visas for Chinese citizens holding service passports

Belarus will introduce 30-day visa-free entry for Chinese citizens who are holders of passports for official travel, TUT.BY writes.
“Presidential decree No173 establishes the rules of visa-free entry, exit, transit and temporary stay for up to 30 days in the territory of Belarus for Chinese citizens holding passports for official trips as travel documents,” press service of the Belarusian leaders reported on 19 May.
Such passports, called service passports, are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the embassies, consulates or other authorized overseas missions of the People’s Republic of China, and the departments for foreign affairs under the people’s governments.
Chinese citizens who can receive service passports are local officials, employees of state organizations, state enterprises and joint-stock financial institutions.
This decision is aimed at intensifying business cooperation between Belarus and China, primarily at the interregional level, the presidential press service reported.
In January 2017, Belarus introduced 5-day visa-free entry for citizens on 80 states, including the EU, the USA and Canada.
Starting 19 May, visa-free entry has opened to citizens of Argentina, making it the 4th Latin American country – after Brazil, Ecuador and Venezuela – whose citizens do not need a visa to travel to Belarus.
