Drunk people won't be allowed to enter street party areas on New Year's Eve in Minsk.
The statement was made by the Minsk police, BelTA reports.
“It is also forbidden to bring alcohol, beer, other drinks and liquids. The only exception is made for water and non-alcoholic drinks in transparent bottles not larger than 0.5 litre,” the police say. People also cannot bring the items that could damage other people, explosives and other prohibited items as well as animals. “The restrictions also cover pyrotechnics (fireworks, comets, firecrackers). The illegal use of pyrotechnics is punished with administrative sanctions from fines to an arrest,” the police add.
The Minsk police call on people to be polite, avoid incidents and don't spoil celebrations for themselves and other people. Policemen urge people to be vigilant and inform them about suspicious persons or unattended items.
Twenty four street party areas will be opened in the Belarusian capital on New Year's Eve, the police say. Special barriers and checkpoints will be installed at the largest party areas near the Palace of Sport and Chyzhouka Arena. Policemen will use hand-held metal detectors and metal detector gates. Special attention will be given to the area near the Minsk Hero City monument, where fireworks will be launched from 1:00 to 1:15 a.m. “We consider installing barriers at other places of celebrations if many people come,” the police note.
The police remind Minsk residents about temporary traffic restrictions, in particular in Kanatny Zavulak, Melnikaite Street, districts near the Palace of Sport, Chyzhouka Arena, the Minsk Hero City monument, Kastrychnitskaya Square and Planet Hotel. Public transport will work at night. The Minsk metro will work until 4:00 a.m. on January 1 and open again on 5:30 a.m. Surface public transport will work until 05:30 on certain routes.
The Minsk police call on residents and guests of Minsk to regard the measures with understanding and observe safety rules at open air parties.
