Decision was taken by Council of Ministers on October 8, meaning Minsk will have the same time as Moscow for the winter season.
According to Radio Svaboda, an ad hoc commission has presented several arguments in favor of this decision, the so-called 'economic inexpediency' among them.
Belarus' State Standard Committe - Gosstandart said earlier it saw no reason for the country's transition to winter time. Belarus refused to switch to season time in 2011, when Russia canceled the seasonal switch. However, on July 1, 2014 the Russian parliament State Duma adopted a decision to return the winter time. The Eastern neighbors will change their time on October 26th. From then and until mid-April, Moscow and Minsk will have the same time.
