President A. Lukashenko has once again made his statement about the need to form the Belarusian national idea.
The Belarusian ruler hopes to ensure the support for the state policy by strengthening the ideological component under the conditions of limited resources to buy population’s loyalty. The search for the national idea always gains impetus on the eve of major political campaigns. Within almost 20 years of Lukashenko’s rule the national idea has not emerged and there are no grounds to expect its emergence under the reign of Lukashenko – the personalistic regime in Belarus boils down entire nation-building to the personality of the president.
