Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey and Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna have been invited to attend a conference on the Eastern Partnership’s prospects, which is to take place in Vilnius on October 28 and 29, a month before the Third Eastern Partnership Summit in the Lithuanian capital city, Anatol Lyabedzka, chairman of the opposition United Civic Party, told reporters on Thursday.
"Both Makey and Deputy Minister Kupchyna have been invited to take part in the discussion, but they have not confirmed their participation,"Mr. Lyabedzka said. "Even if anyone of them arrives, they will bring the same ideas that Lukashenka’s envoy will take to the Vilnius summit. The prospects for Belarus’ participation in the Eastern Partnership will be under discussion there."
A decision on who will represent Belarus at the Eastern Partnership summit will be made soon, Mr. Makey told BelaPAN on Thursday evening.
