The so called OSCE Security Day with participation of Belarus was held in Vienna on March 12.

The event focused on "engagement of the international community with Afghanistan and Central Asian States to ensure border security and counter terrorism and drug smuggling," Belarus's Embassy in Austria reports.

The event was held on the initiative of the Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Lamberto Zannier.

According to Belarus's official news agency BelTA, Belarus was represented by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Border Committee, the State Customs Committee and the Permanent Delegation of Belarus to the OSCE. Henadzy Nyavyhlas, the deputy secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), read a report at the session relating to coordination of actions of the international community to ensure security in the region.

Before the Security Day, Henadzy Nyavyhlas met with permanent representatives of the CSTO members states to the OSCE. The meeting was also attended by Belarus's permanent representative to the OSCE Valery Varanetski.

It should be reminded Nyavyhlas is banned from entering the EU.

Nyavyhlas graduated from Moscow Higher Border Command School of the KGB and occupied command and staff positions in the border troops in 1975-2000.

He became head of Lukashenka's security service in 2000, worked as a state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus in 2001-2006 and head of Lukashenka's administration in 2006-2008.
