Belarus suggests involving the European Union, NATO, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States in the dialogue on the "future architecture of European security," said Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhey Martynaw.
He made this statement during an informal meeting of OSCE foreign ministers, which was held on June 27 and 28 on the island of Corfu in Greece, according to the press office of the Belarusian foreign ministry.
The OSCE should play a more active role in ensuring energy security, with the interests of the producer, transit and consumer countries taken into account, Mr. Martynaw said.
He reaffirmed Belarus' official position on pressing issues of European security and arms control, the press office said.
Mr. Martynaw voiced support for Russia's proposal to adopt a legally binding European Security Treaty. He held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Austria, Belgium, Finland Italy, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden and Ukraine.
