The administration of the special facility, where political prisoner Pavel Sevyaryents serves his punishment, has refused to change the measure of punishment.
BelaPAN news agency learnt this from Pavel Sevyarynets, the co-head of the organizing committee to create the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party and campaign's manager for 2010 presidential candidate Vital Rymasheuski.
The administration of the special facility Nr 7 in the village of Kuplin (the Pruzhany district, the Brest region) announced a decision not to replace serving sentence in an open type prison facility with serving sentence in the place of residence.
Pavel Sevyarynets has served one third of his term without warnings. Under the law, he may apply for changing the regime of sentence. On October 27, the board admitted that Sevyarynets had begun to "mend his way". In other words, serving sentence in an open type prison facility could have been replaced by serving sentence in the place of residence. "Usually, the board allows such prisoners to go home, find job there and stay at home from 10 pm to 6 am," Sevyarynets says.
The politician did not admit his guilt in mass disorders on December 19, 2010. "It became a formal ground for the refusal. You've taken this cross, you have to bear it, they told me in a private conversation," Sevyarynets says.
He thinks there’s no sense in appealing against this decision.
On May 16, the Zavadski district court of Minsk sentenced Pavel Sevyarynets to three years of restriction of freedom under part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code (organizing and preparing the actions that breach public order, or taking active part in such actions).
