The presidents of Poland and the United States have called for "genuinely free and fair presidential elections" in Belarus on December 19.
In a joint statement issued by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and US President Barack Obama at their meeting on December 8, the two leaders reiterated their "strong support" for the European Union’s Eastern Partnership program, designed to strengthen ties between the EU and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as to spur reform and strengthen democracy in the countries.
The statement also read that Poland and the United States are pursuing "complementary policies of strengthening ties with Russia."
