It is not agreements but rather their implementation that matters most in relations between Belarus and Russia, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told reporters while touring the Vitsyebsk region on Thursday.
Mr. Lukashenka said that he would use a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev scheduled for next week to "outline an agenda consisting of tough issues."
"I believe that this meeting will take place next week if, God forbid, nothing extraordinary happens,"Mr. Lukashenka said. "And we`ll discuss the entire spectrum of issues, including difficult ones that so far have not been resolved."
He called for efforts to avoid a situation where agreements reached between the two countries are not put into practice.
If Belarus and Russia abide by the agreements reached at the level of the heads of state, there will be no "insinuations about where Lukashenka has gone and whether he`s oriented toward the West, the South and so on," the Belarusian leader said.
