The Belarusian Party of the Leftists "Fair World" will participate in the presidential elections. This was announced on May 14 at a meeting of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party.
As the chairman of the party Syargey Kalyakin said to the news portal www.UDF.BY, the party is preparing for the presidential elections. "The decision to participate in the presidential elections was taken by the party last year. Today, we are getting ready for the campaign", - said the politician.
"In accordance with the decisions of the last convention, the "Fair World" party stands for nomination of a single candidate from the opposition and is ready to participate in its selection", - said Mr. Kalyakin. "We have a good experience of consolidation of the democratic forces of Belarus and of work for a single candidate on the elections in 2001 and 2006."
At the same time, Mr. Kalyakin noted that if the process of determining a single candidate reached a deadlock, the party together with its allies would nominate its own candidate.
In addition, the Bureau of the Central Committee discussed the results of the elections to local councils. According to Mr. Kalyakin, "the party fully agreed with the conclusions of the Presidium of the UDF about the undemocratic nature of the last elections".
