New PM

Speaking of Roman Golovchenko, Lukasheko pointed out his vast experience, including the diplomatic service, negotiation skills, his work in charge of the military industrial complex.

“I want him to advance the industry to a higher technological level, in all areas where possible. He is a good organizer. Most importantly, he is a reliable person who can be trusted. He understands things, has first-hand knowledge.

He is a reliable man, a patriot of his country, was born and raised in Belarus. Having traveled the world, he did not stay anywhere, in any country. It is very important for us now that patriots and professionals come to power,” the head of state explained his choice.

New expectations

As he appointed new members of the government, Lukashenko recalled that the rotation of personnel and the renewal of government was carried out about a year ago. The previous Council of Ministers worked for three years under the leadership of Sergei Rumas.

Addressing the meeting participants, the country’s leader stressed: “This is a natural process. Yes, the elections will be held after a while and we will need to finish the process, determine almost completely the composition of the government. Why almost?

Because, of course, the period after the election is an exam. We will see who passes the exam. The same portfolio is never given to anyone forever, including me. I am elected by the people, you are appointed by the president. Everything is under the Constitution.”

He also urged the newly appointed members to be ready to work hard to overcome current hardships and challenges. “It is an utmost trial of our resilience and the preservation of the state. We have to survive it. And we will survive it, we’ve done it before, and we will win.”
