Aliaksandr Lukashenka may announce the date of the next presidential and parliamentary elections in the spring of 2019 during the State of the Nation Address, Central Elections Commission chairwoman Lidziya Yarmoshyna assumed in an interview with Radio Liberty.
Both the presidential and parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place in 2020. It has already been on numerous occasions that Lidziya Yarmoshyna suggested that the two electoral campaigns "be separated in time not to be held in the same year." It is up to the nation's leadership to decide what of the two campaigns will take place first, CEC chairwoman noted. Her agency is now busy drawing up the budget estimates for the elections, she said.
As far as the proposed amendments to the electoral laws are concerned, they are now to bve reviewed by the president. He may gather a meeting on this issue some time soon, Yarmoshyna said.
