Belarusian embassy in Israel to remain in Tel Aviv
Belarusian Foreign Ministry has commented on yesterday’s statement by Donald Trump.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Dzmitry Mironchyk told reporters that the Belarusian embassy in Israel will continue to work in Tel Aviv.

“We believe that this issue should be addressed in the form of direct negotiations of the parties involved in the international legal framework, which is available now, in full compliance with UN Security Council resolutions and previous agreements,” said Mironchyk.

According to Belarusian diplomats, the moving of the Belarusian embassy “may be considered in conjunction with the successful completion of the peace process and a mutually acceptable solution about the final status of Jerusalem”.

Recently, Donald Trump announced that it was time to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the State of Israel will continue to work in Tel Aviv,” said Mironchyk.

Clashes between Israelis and Palestinians, some of the most severe in recent years, took place in Jerusalem in the summer of 2017. A new wave of violence became the subject of UN Security Council meeting in July.
