Belarus and the European Union may sign readmission and visa facilitation agreements in 2016, Alyaksei Byahun, the head of the Citizenship and Migration Department at the Interior Ministry of Belarus, said on Friday.
According to the official, the European Union is going to consider provision of financial assistance for the construction of a readmission center in Belarus. The money can be transferred next year if the readmission agreement with the EU enters into force or is at least signed.
“The draft readmission agreement and the agreement on facilitation of visa requirements were prepared back in 2015. Currently, the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs continues consultations. There is an assumption that the two agreements will be signed during the year,” Byahun said.
