Konrad Pawlik, the Polish foreign ministry’s undersecretary of state, has been formally appointed ambassador to Belarus.
Mr. Pawlik will be busy preparing Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski’s visit to Minsk during the first two weeks of his stay in Belarus, according to Polish Radio.
Konrad Pawlik, 39, is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics. Between 2001 and 2006 he was a research worker at Aarhus University in Denmark, where he obtained his PhD. He served at the Chancellery of the President of Poland in 2006 and 2007 and then joined the staff of the foreign ministry. His diplomatic career includes service at Poland’s Permanent Representation to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and the foreign ministry’s Eastern Department. In December 2014, he was appointed undersecretary of state.
Dr. Pawlik is married and has a daughter. He speaks English, Russian and Korean.
The diplomatic term of Dr. Pawlik’s predecessor, Leszek Szerepka, came to an end in mid-August 2015.
