Activist gets detained in Minsk, found in Smalyavichy

It is not clear what Leanid Kulakou is accused of.

Activist of the civil campaign European Belarus Leanid Kulakou has been found in Smalyavichy District Department of the Interior, human rights defender Yuliya Stsyapanava told BelaPAN.

Kulakou, 55, was detained near his house at 9.30 p.m. on May 8. He was delivered to Minsk Pershamaiski District Department of the Interior at first and then got lost, human rights defenders report.

Human rights activists were looking for Kulakou but Pershamaiski District police and the administration of Akrestsina prison could not tell them where he was. Kulakou was found in Smalyavichy on the evening of May 10.

It is not clear what the activist is accused of. Human rights defenders believe that it was a preventive detention.

Kulakou is dependent on medicines all the time, Stsyapanava noted.
