The politician will still help Tatstsyana Karatkevich during the presidential election campaign, Nyaklyayeu’s former teammate said.

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu announced his decision to leave the opposition on April 8. He knew about the politician’s decision in advance, one of the leaders of the Tell the Truth campaign Andrei Dzmitryyeu told Euroradio.

“This is Nyaklyayeu’s decision. We knew about it and discussed it. We respect the decision. Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu supports Tatstsyana Karatkevich and will help her during the election campaign,” Dzmitryyeu said.

Nyaklyeyu quit because the opposition had not managed to unite, he believes.

Dzmitryyeu: “This is a sad event for Tell the Truth. But we still have a strong team and a candidate. Uladzimir Nyaklyeyeu will help us without taking part in the organization meetings.”

Nyaklyayeu could be chosen a presidential candidate in autumn. The organization will chose a new leader one of these days.

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu spent more than five years in politics – from the end of winter 2010 when he joined the newly created Tell the Truth campaign. He was a presidential candidate in 2010 and had been beaten by strangers before the vote was over. He was put on probation for ‘organizing mass riots’.
