So our southern neighbor is hoping to protect themselves from the spread of African swine fever.

Ukraine supports the establishment of a 30-kilometer buffer zone along the border with Russia and Belarus. This area should be free from swine population. This measure is to prevent the outbreak of African swine fever virus, reports interfax.by.

This decision was taken at the meeting of the State Emergency Disease Prevention Committee of Ukraine.

Participants of the meeting decided to ban the use, export and turnover of maize collected in the area protected against ASF. They want to prevent it from getting to pigs without heat treatment, ensuring the destruction of the pathogen.
