The Belarusian Popular Front party (BNF) is facing mass denials to lend premises for holding the 16th party conference, which is scheduled for September 13.
Charter97.org website was informed about that by the press-service of the BNF.
“About 20 Palaces of Culture and conference-halls in Minsk have already refused to lend us premises on different grounds. The Palace of Culture of Minsk tractor plant, where several party conferences have been held over the recent years, has denied premises as well.
Yesterday, September 9, the Republican Palace of Culture named after Sharko, which is situated in Minsk, denied to lend premises in the ultimate moment, though we received papers from Minsk city executive committee that they do not object to this event, as the administration of the Palace had required.
As a result, the conference of the Belarusian Popular Front Party is at risk of failure. The BNF party headquarters is looking for an alternative location urgently. At the moment about 200 delegates are going to participate in the BNF conference,” the press-service noted.
The situation is commented on by the chairman of the BNF party Alyaksei Yanukevich:
“Never before in our preparation to party conferences had we faced such massive denials to lend premises. I do not exclude that these obstacles are created as at the session it is planned to determine the position of our party concerning the upcoming presidential elections. But as the chairman of the party, I state and warrant: the 16th report-and-election conference of the BNF party, will take place, whatever our enemies do,” Alyaksei Yanukevich said.
