A meeting in the format Ukraine – EU – ‘Eurasian trio’ with the participation of the Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and representatives of the EU is expected to take place in Minsk on August, 26.
The press service of Ukraine’s President has reported about the event soon after Petro Poroshenko had phone consultations with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
According to the report, three members of the European Commission (High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, Vice President of the European Commission - European Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger and European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht) may be sent to the meeting.
The Belarusian President and his Ukrainian counterpart have also had a telephone conversation on the subject on August 19, state-owned news agency BelTA reports.
The participants of the meeting are to discuss the issues related to the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, energy security and stabilization of the situation in Donbas region.
