Alyaksandr Lukashenka has, by his presidential edicts, appointed new heads of the Hrodna, Brest and Mahilyow regional police departments, reported the presidential press office.

In particular, the Belarusian leader has appointed Colonel Vadzim Sinyawski to serve as head of the Hrodna regional police department, relieving him of his position as head of the interior ministry’s Guard Department.

The previous head of the Hrodna regional police department, General Major Uladzimir Sychewski, was dismissed on age grounds and sent into retirement in early March.

The head of state has transferred General Major Fyodar Baleyka from his position as head of the Mahilyow regional police department to the position of head of the Brest regional police department.

Colonel Alyaksandr Kavalchuk has been appointed to succeed Mr. Baleyka as head of the Mahilyow regional police department.
