44.6% of Belarusians wouldn't support Alexander Lukashenko in elections, if they knew "a person who could successfully compete with him".
These are the results of a poll conducted in December, by the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS), registered in Vilnius.
The survey was conducted in December 2011. 1513 persons of 18 years old and older were interviewed by the method of face-to-face interview, the maximum error of representativeness doesn't exceed 0.03.
At the same time, in the presence of a strong competitor, according to the December poll, for Lukashenka would voted only 21.7% of respondents.
"The four-time winner of the presidential election campaigns would completely lose such an opponent: 44.6% vs. 21.7%", IISEPS writes. However, sociologists have noted that "as soon as the mythical candidate gains realistic features, his electoral halo will start to tarnish".
Concerning the rating of political figures, who are more familiar to Belarusians, according to IISEPS poll, it looks as follows: a political prisoner, leader of the campaign "European Belarus" Andrei Sannikov - 7.1%, leader of the campaign "Tell the truth" Vladimir Neklyaev - 6%.
