92 BPF members declared they were leaving the party. They consider that BPF no longer corresponds with its name and program values.
Among those who left the party there are representatives of Minsk and regional structures, the party's key figures - an artist Aliaksej Marachkin, an ex-Chairman of the party Liavon Barshcheuski, a deputy of the Supreme Council of XII convocation Halina Siamdzianava, UDF.BY informs.
"The experience of the party life after the Congress-2009, and especially the results of the latest presidential electoral campaign finally convinced us that the policy of the current party leaders does not meet the challenges of the present-day life, contradicts the very spirit of national democracy, freedom, morality and strong principles, the spirit which was a trademark of the Belarusian Popular Front since its establishmnet in 1988", — the "Front" members say in their statement.
The member of the BPF Council Vaclau Areshka has informed that the "Front" members will get together on February 11 in Minsk to decide what to do next. Many activists, according to Areshka, suggest creating a steering committee of a new national-democratic-oriented political organization.
