Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak had a meeting with the chairman of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, a former candidate for presidency in Belarus Alyaksandr Kazulin and an activist of the democratic forces Andrei Kim.
As Anatol Lyabedzka told to BelaPAN, during the meeting the situation in Belarus and development of relations between the country and the EU were discussed.
"Lajcak said that the dialogue between Brussels and Minsk is conducted on Lukashenka’s terms, and he sees problem in that. Weak Lukashenka determines the format and agenda of the dialogue with the politically and economically strong Brussels," Lyabedzka said.
As said by him, Lajcak has also underlined that the changes in Belarus are "cosmetic". "He is in favour of irreversible changes in Belarus," Lyabedzka says.
Lyabedzka underlined that Lajcak has been given proposals of the United Democratic Forces on normalization of relations between the EU and Belarus, and on a "road map" of Belarus’ joining the Council of Europe.
"Mr Lajcak said that it was important to him to know our position before meeting representatives of the government. He plans to discuss the results of the visit to Belarus at the meeting with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt planned for September 14," Lyabedzka said.
The Foreign Minister of Slovakia arrived to Minsk on a visit on September 6. For today his meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhei Martynau is planned. On September 7 a Belarusian-Slovak business forum and contact-cooperation exchange are to start in Minsk.
