Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Dmitry Medvedev talked on the phone on June 7. The conversation was initiated by Belarus.
According to BelTA, both sides mentioned the issues they were planning to discuss at the following meeting. They are expected to discuss the Customs Union and the prospects of creation of the Single economic area of the three countries.
Let us remind you that heads of the Belarusian, Russian and Kazakhstan governments could not reach an agreement about the introduction of the Customs Code in Saint Petersburg on May 21. It has to come into power on July 1.
The Prime Ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan agreed to introduce the Customs Code on a bilateral basis a week later in Saint Petersburg. The document still has to be signed by Belarus. The head of the Belarusian government did not attend the negotiations.
